Frequently asked questions

Everything about ordering, delivery times and what to expect — answered plainly.

Ordering and delivery

What time do I need to order for same-day delivery?

Order before 2 PM and we can deliver the same day, seven days a week including Sunday. Orders placed after 2 PM go out the following day.

During peak periods such as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day we recommend ordering earlier, as same-day capacity fills quickly.

Do you deliver on weekends and public holidays?

Yes. We deliver seven days a week, Monday to Sunday. Our team is contactable from 6 AM to 8 PM every day.

Public holidays vary depending on florist availability, so for a specific holiday date it is worth emailing us first to confirm.

Which parts of Sydney do you deliver to?

We deliver across Sydney — the CBD and Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Western Sydney, the Hills District and the Sutherland Shire.

If you are unsure whether we reach a particular suburb, send us the postcode and we will confirm before you order.

What happens if nobody is home?

Where it is safe to do so, the delivery driver will leave the flowers in a sheltered spot out of direct sun and notify the recipient. In apartment buildings they may be left with a concierge or building manager.

If there is nowhere safe to leave them, we will contact you to arrange a redelivery or an alternative address. Adding the recipient’s mobile number at checkout makes this far easier to resolve quickly.

Can I send flowers to a hospital, aged care home or funeral service?

Yes, and these are among our most common deliveries. For hospitals and aged care, please include the full name of the facility, the ward and the room or bed number if you have it.

Be aware that some wards — intensive care and oncology in particular — do not permit fresh flowers. It is worth checking with the ward before ordering.

For funerals, please provide the funeral home or chapel name, the address and the service time so we can deliver ahead of proceedings. We recommend ordering the day before where possible.

Can I collect my order in person?

No. Iris Florist is an online florist and we do not operate a retail shopfront, so every order is delivered rather than collected.

Your flowers

Who actually arranges and delivers my flowers?

We manage your order from the moment you place it through to delivery. The arranging and hand-delivery is done by our network of trusted local florists across Sydney, each working in the suburbs they know best.

It is how we can offer genuine same-day delivery across a city this large while keeping every arrangement locally made and freshly cut, rather than boxed in a warehouse and couriered.

Will my bouquet look exactly like the photograph?

It will match closely in style, colour palette, size and value, but not always stem for stem. Flowers are seasonal and market availability changes week to week.

Where a particular bloom is not at its best on the day, our partner florists substitute something of equal or greater value in the same colour and style. We would always rather send a beautiful arrangement using what is genuinely fresh than a tired one that matches a photo exactly.

How long will the flowers last?

Most fresh bouquets last five to seven days, and often longer with a little care. Some varieties go considerably further — proteas and baby’s breath commonly last two to three weeks, and dried arrangements last months.

To get the most from them: trim the stems on an angle before putting them in water, change the water every two days, use the flower food provided, keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heaters, and remove blooms as they fade.

Are any of your flowers unsafe around pets?

Lilies are highly toxic to cats, even in small amounts, and should be kept well out of reach or avoided entirely in homes with cats. Several other common flowers can cause stomach upset in cats and dogs.

If you are sending to a home with pets, mention it in the order notes and we will suggest a pet-safer alternative.

Can I include a message card?

Yes. Add your message at checkout and it will be handwritten on a card and included with the flowers at no extra cost. There is no charge for a card with any order.

Orders and changes

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us as soon as possible. If your order has not yet been sent to a florist we can usually change the arrangement, the message, the address or the date without difficulty.

Once an arrangement has been made up — which for same-day orders happens shortly after the 2 PM cut-off — changes become harder and cancellation may not be possible. Please see our refund and returns policy for full details.

Something wasn’t right with my order. What now?

Email us at sales@irisflorist.com.au with your order number and, if it is a quality issue, a photograph. We will look into it and put it right.

We would much rather hear about a problem than have you quietly not order again.

Do you offer wedding flowers?

We do not offer wedding services such as ceremony styling, venue setup or on-the-day coordination.

We do carry bridal-style hand-tied bouquets in our range which can be ordered for delivery like any other arrangement.

Do you deliver corporate or regular weekly flowers?

Yes. We deliver to offices, receptions and venues across Sydney, and can set up a recurring weekly or fortnightly order to a standing brief and budget.

Email us with what you have in mind and we will put something together.
